Ripples Info

Ripples Developmental Program

Welcome to Ripples — the developmental program for the Summer Lake Tsunamis! Ripples is designed to help young swimmers build confidence, improve skills, and work toward becoming full Tsunami team members.

Evaluations

All Ripples swimmers must complete a brief evaluation to ensure they are water safe and ready for the program.

Evaluation Dates

  • Tuesday, May 26 | 5:30–7:00 pm | SL Pool
  • Sunday, May 31 | 3:30–5:00 pm | Swift Creek YMCA

Please REGISTER for a 10-minute evaluation time slot.

Swimmers should be able to swim approximately 10 meters (about halfway down a lane line) independently. Ripples is not a learn-to-swim program; instead, it is designed to help swimmers who already have basic swimming ability build endurance and confidence with the goal of swimming the full length of the pool by the end of the season.

Practices

Ripples practices are 45 minutes long and focus on skill development in a fun, structured environment with coaches in the water assisting swimmers.

Practice Times

  • 8:00–8:45 am
  • Additional 9:00–9:45 am group may be added depending on enrollment

As swimmers demonstrate readiness, they may be promoted to the Tsunamis 6 & Under group during the season.

Meets & Participation

Ripples swimmers will have opportunities to participate in developmental races during the season.

  • We will host a Ripples Race at our first two home meets.
  • Families should declare their swimmer as attending those meets and note that they are a Ripple swimmer.
  • The Ripples Race takes place after the National Anthem and before Event 1.

Ripples will not participate in away meets.

Parent Volunteers

Our swim meets are powered by amazing parent volunteers, and extra help is always appreciated!
